The tiny tables and chairs are there, and the children mostly ignore them. They end up on the floor, building towers of blocks, reading on the rug, drawing on their tummies. More than one room has a child asleep on the little red sofa with a teddy, and the teacher is somewhere in the middle of it all, kneeling or reading aloud. The walls carry a clock, the pegged drawings and the coat hooks almost every time.
Snack time, it turns out, happens on the floor too.
